13th January 2019, Selangor – Some 400 cyclists took part in a 20-kilometer ride overflowing Bandar Utama Damansara on Sunday morning. The fun ride event, Jom Kayuh Bandar Utama Damansara 2019 was held within the vibrant, integrated residential and commercial township of Bandar Utama Damansara in Petaling Jaya.
Organized by Persatuan Penduduk BU2 Bandar Utama, a resident association (RA) in 1 of the 9 landed residential sections within Bandar Utama township, the event was a collaboration with other 6 RAs in undertaking the biggest budget and high participation number ever event since the registration of RA.
Flagged off by YB Tony Pua, Member of Parliment for Damansara together with YDH ACP Mohd Zani bin Che Din, Ketua Polis Daerah Petaling Jaya, the first-ever event in the township was aimed to encourage residents to maintain an environmental friendly, healthy lifestyle through cycling, at the same time increasing the social interaction and strengthening the relationship among residents who have less congregation time.
As cycling continues to soar in popularity in Malaysia, the event also strove to create a platform to raise resident’s interest in cycling activity with the aim of building a cycling culture within Bandar Utama township and establish a cycling club in the community.
Apart from VIPS including YB Elizabeth Wong Keat Ping, ADUN Bukit Lanjan, Danny Chan, MBPJ Councillor for Zone 2, Tang Fuie Koh, MBPJ Councillor for Zone 3, and YB Jamaliah Jamaluddin, ADUN Bandar Utama who joined the ride and showed their support.
