A cycling tour like this deserved an after-party, and no single part of it was less than great. Cyclists were able to witness a cultural performance, in which they had a chance to join eventually and a grand banquet of traditional dishes such as Apang and rice jaha, among others on banana leaves.
The approximately 20km of collective sweat and fun led to the overall success of the tour.
Garuda Indonesia played an important role in sending the message to the world outside the city: Tomohon is a tourism jewel.
Tomohon Mayor Jimmy F. Eman expressed his gratitude for the board of Garuda Indonesia for choosing Tomohon as the host of this tourism activity, “ Tomohon certainly will benefit in many ways like building up Tomohon in the national and international scenes, driving economy and sports tourism.
“Since most of the participants were from outside the area of North Sulawesi, we hope that as they go back to their bases, they become ambassadors on their own in promoting Tomohon as a tourist destination.”
Garuda Indonesia also extended assistance for the improvement of school infrastructure in SMP N II Tomohon as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility initiative. Two units of bicycles were also given as souvenirs to the City Government as received by Mayor Jimmy F. Eman.
WHAT’S UPCOMING?
The Tomohon International Flower Festival will be held in August 8th, and this cycling tour served as an appetizer to this annual festivity.
Dedy added, “Garuda wants to increase the number of visitors coming to Sulawesi, especially here in Tomohon. In September, we’re organizing another cycling event, bigger this time, with a 150km route. We will be inviting foreign tourists
to join.”
