Shimano Burung Hantu 2018 Welcomed 2,000 Cyclists

20th October 2018, Melaka – Held at Rumah Melaka, Bukit Katil, Melaka, the largest MTB night in Malaysia, Shimano Burung Hantu 2018 hit its 8th edition this year. As for Shimano, this was their fourth year as the main title sponsor for this event.

Proudly organized by the Environment Cycling Club, this MTB night attracted about 2,000 participants not only from across Malaysia but also from neighboring countries. Flagged off at 8pm by YB Kerk Chee Yee, Exco Multimedia, Communication Youth & Sport, the night ride covered 45km where the participants rode on a 10km tarmac road, then through the oil palm plantation and rubber estate, while enjoying a nightly experience of nature’s forest.

Mountain bikers were challenged by riding a little uphill and downhill followed by technical single course trails. This year, LED lights sponsored by Dominant Opto Technologies were set up every 50 meters along the off-road trail to ensure safety.

Some of the sponsors were Mahkota Medical Centre, TRS, SBH Cycle, Eco Greenbike, Bike Science, Red Bull, Lucozade Sport, Thule, Camelbak, N8 Nutrition, Perskindol, and more.

Like the previous editions, the organizer donated a sum of RM5,000 each to National Cancer Society Malaysia and St. John Ambulance Bachang, Melaka. The event ended at 2am after the prize giving ceremony.
