Cycling Shimanami 2018, Touring Hiroshima and Ehime like never before, on a bike! – Part 2

Aside from joining one of Japan’s biggest cycling events this year, why not make this trip more fun and memorable? Why not consider it as a short holiday as well and visit the awesome places in the prefecture of Hiroshima and Ehime as well!

Here are some places to consider visiting while waiting for the event to start:

Itsukushima Jinja Shrine

The Itsukushima Jinja Shrine or Itsukushima Gate is a listed as a UNESCO World Heritage and a National Treasure by the Japanese government. You can take breathing taking photos as the gate / shrines stands in the middle of the sea that is surrounded by medieval forest.

Tatara Shimanami Park


The park has a spectacular view of the Tatara Bridge, where the event will be held. There is also a place to rent or purchase a bike and bike accessories. Taking picture he is a must, especially with friends and family!

Towel Museum Ichihiro

This is probably one of the few most unique places in the world to visit. You will see a unique array on how towels are made, created into art / decoration and more! It is a super unique place visit and expand your view on towels.

Dogo Hot Spring

This hot spring has a history of 3000 years old, the oldest one in Japan! There is revolving clock that pop-out in the area it as well. Release your exhaustion after riding in the cycling event.
