“It’s the perfect time for you to be here.” Mr. Alain said. The racing world of TdF looks so much different from the timekeeping station. Mr. Alain allowed us a quick peek through inside their little ‘time machine’.

There was partageons la passion spelled out on the wall and a man with eyes glued to the tiny screen of his laptop, showing multiple windows of timekeeping data. The digital clock screen read 10:49:35.

“Installation is not yet done,” Mr. Alain pointed outside, “You see them coming out on the streets.”

To see the incredible commitment of the timekeeping team in action is to witness a different race on its own.

He explained, “They arrived three o’clock in the morning from the stage race, got some sleep, and then started at 8 o’clock again.” Showing us the team on sight, he added, “You see the team right here, they’re working on the installation process. We do that every day. So, we install the equipment every day, dismantle it every day, bringing everything to the next station.”

“Every day is a new race.” Every day, the team needs to retest, reprepare and rerun. Every single day for three weeks. “They never stop.”

“To see the incredible commitment of the timekeeping team in action is to witness a different race on its own”.
