22nd Mar 2018, Cameron Highlands – Stage 5 from Bentong to Cameron Highlands being the queen stage strictly and successfully witnessed Ovechkin riding his way to victory.
Of all stages, Terengganu Cycling Team (TSG) has commemorated the historic triumphs including being crowned as The Leader of KOM and the new overall leader thanks to Ovechkin, the new rider from Russian.
It was an epoch-making moment for Ovechkin as he took his solo win today. Dyball Benjamin (STG) came in second place and was late by 28 seconds behind Ovechkin, however the third placing went to Ghebreigzabhier Werkilul Amanuel (DDD).
Riccardo Minali (AST) retains the lead in the points classification. Artem Ovechkin is the king of the mountains but Alvaro Duarte will wear the polka dot jersey. Evgeni Gidich (AST) became the best Asian rider.
Stage 5 was significant as well as Mohd Zariff from Team Sapura Cycling earned his Best Malaysian Rider.
Stage 6 will take riders through a flat course from Tapah to Tanjung Malim, covering a distance of 108.5km.
