A total of 162 participants gathered at Bukit Ekspo with their MTBs for the Pedal for Kidney & Charity organized by a team of 84 students of Bachelor of Parks and Recreation Science in Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). The university’s Forestry Department was in full support of the charity event.
Flagged off by the Director General Malaysia, Dato’ Mirza Mohammad Taiyab at 8.00am, this 21.8km fun ride was organized for the first time by the students, who were planning to make it an annual event. The objective of this event was to train students to develop strong leadership and organizational skills. This has also given them a chance to give back to the community by donating the money collected to the National Kidney Foundation (NKF).
This event was sponsored by Tourism Malaysia, Sariteknik Sdn Bhd, MBH Medispa Shah Alam, Kakicopy UPM, KSH Bicycle, The Basikal Serdang, Cycling Malaysia Magazine and ILMU31 Enterprise, among others.
