The third stage of the Harian Metro MTB GP 2014 Series kicked off with 1,300 avid cyclists. These participants gathered at the Kampus Kejuruteraan USM, Nibong Tebal to shred some good trails.
The first race of the day was flagged off at 8am for XC Metro Race, and 15 minutes later, the Metro Open Jamboree was flagged off. This event was attended by Datuk Mustapa Omar, Pengarang Kumpulan Harian Metro, Datuk Musa Yusof, Pengarah Bahagian Pemasaran Domestik Tourism Malaysia, Prof Zainal Arifin Mohd Ishak, Pengarah Kampus Kejuruteraan USM and Superintendan Wan Hassan Wan Ahmad, Ketua Polis Daerah Seberang Perai Selatan (SPS).
The trail covered 40km—70% off-road and 30% on-road. This regional competition saw cyclists from Thailand and Singapore, to name a few. The fourth stage of the Harian Metro MTB Grand Prix Cuti-Cuti 1Malaysia was held in Melaka in November, while the 5th stage will be held in Hulu Selangor on 28th December. The ride ended at 2pm and the event was made more memorable by the participants having had the chance to grab prize monies worth RM200,000 in total. This event was sponsored by Tourism Malaysia, Honda Isuzu, Tesco D, Deuter, Vemma, Jiwa Basikal and PowerBar.
