At the age of 65, what is Ong’s plan for retirement? It seemed like an inevitable question after involving in the automobile and bicycle trade for five decades, and Ong’s reply was, “I am blessed to have two sons who are willing to follow my footsteps.” The future is an excellent time to get started by the Generation Y. With his two sons’ assistance, Ong is relieved.
By the time we finished our interview session with Mr Ong, it was also about time for lunch. Upon asking his son who was dealing with a customer’s bike repair service, his son decided that he had to finish his on-hand task before dismissing himself for lunch. “Papa, I will stay and look after the shop.” said the responsible son to his father.
Having raised well-disciplined children, nothing can be compared to the simplicity of his contentment. In addition, Ong’s goal is not to sell the most expensive bike or component, but by providing his service at his best, the satisfying smile that he can put on his consumer’s face is an extraordinarily rewarding pay-off.
