10 Questions Every Cyclist Must Answer

“I believe cycling can improve your life, health, body, confidence level, and train more to prove that you can achieve more.”

 

1. How did you pick up cycling? What keeps you motivated?
Started with steel bike and I cycle for leisure with friends. Soon after I joined cycling events and I got hooked. Health is my main motive to keep me to continue cycling, I have lost 20kgweight after cycling for 18 months.

2. What to do or what not to do during a ride?
Do not race when you are in a fun ride event; Do keep to the direction as instructed and give way to passing vehicles; Do not litter

3. What’s your worst injury? How do you reduce your chances of crashing?
No serious injuries before, my injury was because I did not release my cleats when I was a beginner. I would train to be more skillful and release my cleats earlier.

4. What has been your most memorable ride so far?
My first attempt was a 80km ride at the neighboring areas in Putrajaya, Cyberjaya and Dengkil.I overcame the challenge of hot weather, built my determination and I had only short breaks in between.

5. How much of your salary goes into buying cycling products? Would you consider yourself a budget cyclist?
I have spent about RM400 in the past 3 months.

6. If price does not matter, what is your next cycling upgrade or escapade?
I would like to lighten my bike with carbon made wheel, stems, seat post and etc; but I want to maintain the genuine frame of my bicycle as I share memories with it.

7. How do you train? What are your cycling strengths?
I train 2-3 times a week on weekdays at night and cover a distance of 40km each ride in the Putrajaya region.

8. How do you optimise your nutrition, before, during and after your ride?
Before events, I avoid oily food, reduce cold drinks and increase my sugar intake. During ride, Isagenix E+ Energy shot and power gel.
After events, I multiply my carb intake. Daily supplements, One capsule of Proviton multivitamin, I will double the dosage two days before the event.

9. What can you say about ladies getting into cycling?
Love that, we can make friends to share experience and knowledge.
For female cyclists, sunscreen protection is a vital element.

10. Who do you want to cycle with? What are the reasons?
YB Khairy Jamaluddin. I hope I could invite him to cycle off-road. As a minister himself, he is always humble, encouraging and motivating, and most of all, he is my role model.
