“Your Race Level Aero Weaponry”
Merida has been going great guns of late with the Lampre Merida ProTeam, with their Reacto frames coming to the forefront. Now, Merida offers the same level of racing machinery to the masses with the 2015 Reacto 4000. Based on feedback from the Lampre Merida team, it was found that aerodynamics plays more part in top flight cycling than weight, and the team thus elected to ride Reacto frames for 2015, foregoing Merida’s ultra lightweight Scultura.
This can be seen in the truncated airfoil shape of the down tube and tucked away seat stays that are set low and out of the main turbulent airflow areas. Made from Nano matrix carbon, Merida says the new resin formulation allows for up to 40% stiffness in certain areas of the frame, enhanced by the externally butted head tube and tapered steerer fork. The frame itself is Di2 ready, future proofing your investment for upgrades.
Performance is what the Reacto 4000 is designed for, and the steep head and seat tube angles reflect this. This is a frame designed to get the power to the road, and will suit the strong rider who wants the last ounce of efficiency from his ride. The groupset is a mix of Shimano 105 and Merida’s own brand brakes, with an FSA Gossamer crank. This selection is a good value for money choice, and leaves lot of room for future upgrades as components wear out.
In all, the 2015 Merida Reacto 4000 should be on the short list of anyone who wants a fast, aerodynamic bike with a price that doesn’t burn the wallet.
