The largest MTB night in Malaysia, Shimano Burung Hantu MTB Jamboree 2014 hit its 6th edition this year. As for Shimano, this was their second year as the main sponsor for this event. Proudly organized by the Environment Cycling Club, this event attracted a total of 2000 participants.
Tun Haji Latif, Pegawai Khas Yang Di Pertua Melaka, together with sponsors, flagged off the event at8.30pm. This event not only saw cycling enthusiasts from across Malaysia, but also cycling enthusiasts from neighbouring countries such as Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines and others. The race covered 48km where the participants rode on a 10km tarmac road, then through the oil palm plantation and rubber estate, while enjoying a nightly experience of nature’s forest. With a little uphill and downhill followed by technical single course trails, the participants were definitely challenged. Of course, LED lights were set up every 50 meters along the off-road trail to ensure safety.
This year, the organizers of this event gave a sum of RM5000 each to Persatuan Kanner Melaka and St. John Ambulance Bachang, Melaka. The race ended at 2am, and the proud champions for the Men’s category was Muaz bin Abdul Rahim and Nurul Syhhadah for the Women’s category.
