Fuji Nevada 1.3D 27.5”

Fuji’s Nevada 1.3D is a low cost, capable hardtail that will do almost anything the casual MTB rider will want of it. Now coming in a 27.5” wheel size, the Nevada 1.3D raises the performance bar a little over the previous 26” wheels, and without the ocean liner feeling of a 29er. The alloy frame is basic and designed to be efficient. The Nevada is a frame that simply does the job it was designed to.

The SR Suntour 100 mm travel fork is entry level, with the benefit of a remote lockout. The fork will soak up most small to medium range bumps on the trail. Adjustment is limited, and riders wanting more should look further up Fuji’s range. The groupset is a mix of Shimano’s Alivio and Deore equipment, basic stuff, but reliable. The Tektro brakes, clamping on a 180 mm rotor in front and 160 at the rear, fall well within the capability of both the frame and the rider it is intended for. The wheelset is Vera Terra DPD rims laced to Formula hubs using 14 gauge spokes and will perform well riding on laterite roads and plantation trails. The Schwalbe Smart Sam tyres handle sketchy, but not extreme, surfaces well. The rest of the equipment fit out comes from Oval Concepts.

The Nevada 1.3D rides fairly well, thanks to its 27.5” wheels, and the tested performance of the frame. The Fuji Nevada is a capable XC hardtail designed for the beginner rider, or those who are coming back to cycling.
