Selangor Youth Community (SAY) through its Cycling Selangor initiative under the patronage of HH Raja Muda of Selangor is embarking in a campaign to work towards building a better cycling ecosystem in Selangor.
Funded by Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) and armed with strategic partnership with Malaysian National Cycling Federation (MNCF), Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS), Darul Ehsan Facilities Management (DEFM) and supported by various corporate and community partners, the Smart Cycling campaign was launched today amidst the maiden Smart Cycling Fest 2022 here at Stadium Shah Alam.
Smart Cycling is a holistic campaign aimed at inculcating knowledge and best practices in cycling through both virtual and physical media contents and activities such as digital handbooks, PSAs,cycling classes and workshops all while creating a connected network of cyclists and related bodies,businesses and services through a membership programme.
His Highness Tengku Amir Shah Ibni Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj, Raja Muda of Selangor said“We need an initiative to empower and unite all corners of the cycling ecosystem in Selangor, one that not only unites the many cycling disciplines, but also one that feeds information, knowledge and many more, from cyclists for cyclists whether new or old, and to increase the awareness and tolerance among general road users.”
The Smart Cycling Fest 2022 is a half-day festivity involving and celebrating various cycling communities from all across Selangor. Activities include Ride Safe Clinic where riders learn on how to prepare for rides, the do’s and don’ts and more, before embarking on the Selangor Raya Ride to practice what they have learned in a 37km casual fun ride by local communities AFG by Proogue and Amaniz; the Pushero Race Series of push bike or balance bike race for kids aged 3-6 years old by the Pedal Malaya community, freestyle BXM performances by the Kayuh BMX community; forum session and exchange of dialogue between MIROS and the cycling community; as well as various booths and exhibitions by other players of the local cycling community.
With the official launch of the Smart Cycling campaign, Cycling Selangor is extending its arms to all corners of the cycling ecosystem in Selangor in order to work together towards a better cycling state and nation.
