The New Years are just a few more days away, and the change of year signifies a time to set new goals for the upcoming 12 months. Now is the time where everyone is thinking about what they want to achieve in 2022.

If you’re an avid cyclist, setting goals and plans is the way to go. Whether you want to improve your fitness, beat your personal best, or travel and ride in famous locations across the world, the New Year is the best time to pin down what you really want to achieve and be proud of this time next year.

Goals are really important if you want to keep improving yourself. When without direction it can be hard to find the motivation to work out. Thus, set yourself a big goal and break it down into smaller bits as it’s more realistic and achievable.

So here’s how you can plan and stick to your New Year’s cycling resolution. Once you’ve set your goal and set yourself a deadline for each goal to keep accountable.

1.Write them down

Once you have your goals in mind, write them down. Write out your goal and stick it up somewhere you’ll see every day. For instance, sticking on your mirror, fridge, or your to-do list board.

Whenever you see it, you will be reminded of it and consider how to take steps toward it in your day.

2.Keep on top of your goals

To take that extra step, try setting reminders on your phone so you don’t forget to go for your workout or training that day.

3.Share with other cyclists

If you’ve been cycling alone for the past years, consider joining a cycling community, a group, or invite a friend to join you. This is a great way to stay accountable.

Ideally, you’ll be working towards the same goal, but if they have completely different aims you can still share your goals with other cyclists so they can share tips and tricks to help you stay on track with your goals.

4.Maintain your gear properly

Next, make sure your bike and gear are in good condition before your next ride. This is a perfect time to get up to date and not be held back by your gear. Treat yourself to some good quality cycling equipment and attire to keep you motivated, it could make a huge difference to your rides.

5.Reward yourself

Once you achieve your incremental goals, reward yourself. It might be a proper rest day, a cheat meal, or new cycling shoes. Well, why not? You’ve earned it.
