The 13th edition of Tour de Korea was overwhelmed with joy and triumphant to witness the conclusion of the only international road cycling race in Korea today.
The 2.1 UCI ranked tour concluded successfully, seeing Terengganu Inc TSG Cycling Team (TSG) claim remarkable feats. It was a great start to the Tour, seeing Youcef Reguigui take 2nd place in Stage 1, scoring valuable sprint points to get into the lead on the Points Classification (Sky Blue Jersey). He was leading 2nd in GC after Stage 1.
The Sky Blue and Yellow Jersey holder continued to secure 2nd place in Stage 2, leading in Overall Classification and Points Classification with 35 points. The following stage of the Tour still saw Youcef leading with 44 points in the Sky Blue Jersey and 3rd place in GC.
In spite of the tough day out for the riders in Stage 3, provided it was the longest stage with Cat.3 climb – attacks after attacks started right from KM 0, the team worked hard to defend the Yellow Jersey. Later in Stage 4, the workload has been shifted to the new race leader and TSG riders remained focused on defending the Sky Blue Jersey.
There were plenty of attacks yet unsuccessful and the break got swallowed back into the peloton, one lone rider was caught at the last kilometer to the line – Youcef managed to take 4th place at the uphill finish, leading by 5 points in Sky Blue Jersey and 3rd in GC.
Hard work paid off. The team clinched the Sky Blue Jersey, Youcef finished 6th in the stage and 4th overall in GC.
Besides Youcef Reguigui, other riders who represented Terengganu Inc TSG Cycling Team (TSG) at the Tour included Nur Amirull Fakhruddin Marzuki, Metkel Eyob, Maral Erdene, Artem Ovechkin, and Drew Morey.
