25th October 2018, China – TSG’s Nur Amirull Fakhruddin Mazuki takes over the Blue Jersey for best Asian classification after stage 3 at Tour of Hainan today.
Today was the longest stage, 231.8 km from Chengmai to Qionghai. Nur Amirull went out with 4 other riders; Wang Bo (Hengxiang), Tyler Williams (Israel Cycling Academy), Kihei Uchima (Nippo-Vini Fantini), Sam Brand (Novo Nordisk) 15km into the stage.
He won the first intermediate sprint at km 96.6, and then took second place in the second intermediate sprint at km 170.2 to get an advantage in best Asian Rider classification. The break was slowly absorbed by the peloton from 45km to the finish.
Plenty of attacks as the bunch enters 10km towards the line, with Maral-Erdene trying to break away in the final 7km.
It was a tight finish with Manuel Belletti (Androni Giocattoli-Sidermec) taking the win, followed by Raymond Kreder (Team Into) in second and Dylan Page (Swiss Cycling) finishing third.
Dylan Page (Swiss Cycling) remains the overall leader and Tour of Hainan have a new Best Asian rider, Nur Amirull Fakhruddin Mazuki!
