Meet The People Behind TSG


Established in 2011 by Terengganu State Government and Pro-Asia Sports Management, the goal of Terengganu Cycling Team (TSG) was to develop next generation of Terengganu cyclists as well as young cycling talents to compete at highest international level. Since team’s establishment, TSG has been the number 1 team from South East Asia for 7 years in the roll and is one of most consistent top performing teams in UCI Asia races.

People who team up for TSG are as follows;

Jeremy Hunt

Jeremy was an accomplished professional rider for 16 years and has won numerous international races including two British national road race championships in 1997 and 2001. Jeremy also completed Tour of France in 2010 with Ceverlo TestTeam. Jeremy retired from professional racing in 2012 after two years with Team Sky. After retired from racing, he worked with Synergy Baku Cycling Project as team coach and Director Sportive. In 2017, Jeremy joined TSG as head coach and Director Sportive.

Danny Feng

Danny moved to Malaysia in 2001 and getting more involved in road racing in Asia. In 2008 and 2009, he worked for Japanese team Equipe Asada as Assistant Director Sportive with riders like Shinichi and Koji Fukushima. In 2010, Danny worked with Geumsan Ginseng Cycling Team and recruited Anuar Manan, the team delivered first and only Malaysian victory in Tour de Langkawi. In 2011, Danny set up TSG with Terengganu State Government.

Amirull Fakhruddin Mazuki | All-rounder (DOB: 24th January 1992)

One of most complete Malaysian riders, who is able to climb and sprint. He was the 2015 Malaysian National Champion, winner of KOM jersey at 2015 Jelajah Malaysia and Sharjah Tour, Points jersey winner and stage winner in Tour of Borneo as well as the winner of Points Jersey in 2017 Jelajah Malaysia – 3 UCI race victories in total.

Cheku Romli Nazmie | Sprinter/Domestique (DOB: 14th December 1994)

One of the young recruits with TSG since 2016, and he showed some promising future by finishing 2nd in 2016 Singapore National Championship.

Hariff Saleh | Sprinter (DOB: 15th September 1988)

One of best sprinters in Asia. He was the double gold medalist at 2015 South East Asia Games and gold medalist at 2017 South East Asia Games with 15 UCI race stage victories and multiple podium finishes at major international races Le Tour de Langkawi and Tour of Hainan.

Maral-Erdene Batmunkh | Rouleur/Time Trialist (DOB: 15th October 1994)

Mongolian rider joined TSG in 2016. He was the 2016 Asian Cycling Championship U23 ITT champion and current 2X Mongolian ITT national champion. Strong all-rounder finished 3rd overall in 2016 Tour de Filipinas and KOM jersey winner at Tour of China I. He was also the stage winner in 2017 Tour de Tochigi and finished 5th overall in Tour of Xingtai.

Umardi Rosdi | Time Trialist/Domestique (DOB: 11th August 1986)

2016 Malaysian ITT national champion, he experienced rider with a stage victory in Tour de Brunei.

Zamri Saleh | Sprinter/Team Caption (DOB: 10th December 1983)

Team captain of TSG and 2016 Malaysian national road race champion. He won 8 UCI stage victories at Jelajah Malaysia, Tour of Singkarak, Tour of East Java and Tour of Brunei. In 2017, he finished 3rd in Tour de Langkawi stage 3 and was the winner of Tour de Selangor stage 5.

Shahrul Mat Amin | Rouleur/Sprinter (DOB: 9th June 1989)

2X Malaysian national road champion. A strong all-rounder with 8 UCI stage victories at Tour de Taiwan, Jelajah Malaysia, Tour de Brunei, Tour de Singkarak and Tour d’ Indonesia. He was the stage winner in 2017 Tour de Lombok stage 4.

Goh Choon Huat | Climber (DOB: 14th December 1990)

Not only he is the current Singapore road and ITT national champion, he is also one of most valuable members of TSG. He finished 4th in 2014 Tour de Langkawi stage 1 and proudly defended Best Asian Rider Jersey for 3 days. He also won the 2nd in 2017 Tour de Singakarak stage 3.

Zulhilmie Alif Ahmad Zamri (Seth) | Rouleur/Sprinter (DOB: 10th March 1992)

He is the new TSG recruit for 2016, making steady improvement, a good sprinter with 2 top 5 finishes in 2017 UCI races.

Drew Morey | Climber/GC (DOB: 27th November 1996)

Latest recruit of TSG in 2017, young talented Australian climber is definitely one of best GC riders of future. He won his first race with TSG in 2017 Tour de Flores stage 1 followed with 4 UCI stage podium finishes. 2nd overall in Tour of Quanzhou Bay and 3X top 10 overall UCI stage races.

Afiq Huznie Othman | All-rounder (DOB: 4th August 1996)

The younger brother of Adiq Othman, who is certainly one of the talents from Terengganu cycling. In 2017 he finished 2X top 10 in UCI races, with more racing under TSG, he should improve significantly in next few years.

Zuladri Amin Zulkurnain | All-rounder (DOB: 11th August 1998)

2016 Malaysian junior road race champion is certainly another talent from Terengganu. In 2017 he finished 2 times top 10 in Tour de Selangor and 6th in Jelajah Malaysia Youth Classification.

Metkel Eyob | Climber/GC (DOB: 4th September 1993)

One of newest members to TSG from Eritrea Africa, he was one of the top African riders with 6 UCI victories, 3 times UCI GC podiums. In 2017, he finished 9th overall in Tour de Hongrie, 2 stage victories in and 2nd overall Tour of Rwanda. Certainly, he will be an exciting rider to watch in 2018 UCI Asia Tour.

Irwandie Lakasek | Track (DOB: 30th January 1995)

One of the uprising in Malaysia track stars from Terengganu, at the age of 22, he already had several top 10 UCI road results. In 2016 Jelajah Malaysia, Irwandie impressed everyone with 2 podium stage finishes. In 2018, Irwandie is still representing Malaysia for track events while adding some road races with TSG. He has the potential to become the next leading sprinter.

Artem Ovechkin (DOB: 11th July 1986)

Born in Berdsk, Russia. Artem started racing under Saint Petersburg cycling team with an impressive U23 result 3rd in European U23 Championship and 10th in World Championship U23 ITT race. He joined World Tour Team Katusha from 2010 to 2011 which he finished 5th overall in Tour of Austria. Artem spent next 6 years riding for Pro Continental Team, Gazprom-Rusvelo with good results. 2015 Artem was Russia ITT national champion. In 2016, he competed and completed his first Grand Tour Giro d’Italia. In Feb 2018, he joined TSG as his first team outside European continent with great success by winning 2018 Tour de Langkawi overall classification and 2nd overall in Tour of Thailand.
