Who Is terengganu cycling team?
Terengganu Cycling Team (TSG) was established in 2011 by Terengganu State Government and Pro-Asia Sports Management following the success of local rider Anuar Manan who won one stage and Green Points Jersey in 2010 Le Tour de Langkawi together with Asian veteran cyclist Shinichi Fukushima as team captain. The goal of TSG was to develop next generation of Terengganu cyclists as well as young cycling talents to compete at highest international level. Since team’s establishment, TSG has been the number 1 team from South East Asia for 7 years in a roll and is one of most consistent top performing teams in UCI Asia races.

In 2012, TSG made history by becoming the number one overall ranked team in UCI Asia Tour. Over the 7 years history, TSG ranked as top 5 Asian teams 4 times with 66 international victories and over 180 podiums.
Besides racing success in UCI Asia Tour, TSG is also one of most recognized professional sports teams in Malaysia with a large fan following not only limited to the state of Terengganu but throughout the cycling community in entire Malaysia. Each year TSG races over 15 countries throughout Asia from Japan, Korea, China, South East Asia, Middle East to as far as Turkey in 2016. TSG is well known throughout Asia cycling races for team’s good results and clean respectable image.
WHAT IS UP FOR 2018?
TSG is predominately consisting of Asian riders with a majority from Terengganu. For 2018, Zamri Saleh will continue leading the team as captain, with Harrif Saleh, Shahrul Mat Amin, Amirull Mazuki, Umardi Rosdi, Che Ku Nazmie and Zulhilmie Afif Zamri representing local riders; together with Singapore national champion Goh Choon Huat, Mongolia ITT champion Maral-erdene Batmunkh and Australian climber Drew Morey all continue with TSG from 2017 season.
New riders include two young Terengganu talents Afiq Othman and Zuladri Amin Zulkurnain. The exciting new addition to 2018 TSG will be Metkel Eyob from Eritrea Africa who is one of the top African riders from Dimension Data Continental team, and he just recently finished 2nd overall in Tour of Rwanda with 2 stage victories. TSG will become first and only South East Asian Team to have rider representing Africa continent.
For 2018 racing calendar, TSG will kick off the year with Sharjah Tour and Tour of Indonesia in January, then Tour de Filipinas in February which lead to most import home race Le Tour de Langkawi in March. This year’s rider selection for Langkawi will be a difficult one with so many local and foreign talents on the team. TSG is planning its first official training camp in early January, hopefully, it will help select the riders for upcoming races.
As for 2018 sponsors, TSG is pleased to have the continuing financial support from Terengganu State Government, Terengganu Inc, and UZLand. TSG is also very pleased to continue receiving the support of Shimano Singapore and keep racing on Lapierre bicycles equipped with Shimano and PRO components and wheels, OGK Kabuto for eyewear, head protection and CCN for cycling apparels. Other major team sponsors include KLIA TV, Inno Bike Rack, EXA Marketing, CVE, Primula Beach Hotel, Enproserve, and Deuter. For 2018, TSG is also excited to work with premier cycling media company Cycling Malaysia to give public more insights into TSG’s racing and riders.
