OCBC CYCLE KL 2017 route features 21km of the capital’s most iconic landmarks

27 October 2017, KUALA LUMPUR – The popular OCBC Cycle Kuala Lumpur will be back for the third consecutive year on Sunday, 5 November 2017 at Dataran Merdeka with the promise of a longer stretch featuring only two laps. The challenging 42km route of two 21km loops along the closed roads of the city centre will allow cyclists to showcase their riding skills.

OCBC Cycle KL 2017 will also bring together the various players involved in cycling, supplies, sports clothing, bicycles, bicycle equipment and tools, among others, in what will culminate in the Bike Fest Week that will be held a week before the event.

We welcomed OCBC Bank (Malaysia) Berhad’s role as title sponsor of OCBC Cycle KL 2017, saying it is heartening to see the “face of Malaysian mass cycling events” back for the sixth consecutive year.

Alongside the route announcement, OCBC Cycle KL 2017 also shared the official list of sponsors for the event, which included Great Eastern Life Assurance, and as per the attached list.

Organised by Multigreen Events and supported by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), OCBC Cycle KL 2017 takes place on 5 November 2017 at Dataran Merdeka starting at 6.30am.

Thumbs up to the Organiser to the upcoming mass participation cycling event on closed public roads with all preparations well underway to make it a safe, smooth and successful event.

“The event has already seen more than 2,000 signing up, with several overseas participants as well. It is good to see citizens and tourists alike registering for a healthy activity in the heart of the city. PDRM and DBKL will ensure the necessary closures are in place and that traffic remains smooth and more important safe for everyone”.

Sharing the details of the route, Datuk Naim Mohamad, Chairman of the OCBC Cycle KL 2017 Implementation Committee said OCBC Cycle KL 2017 flags off at Dataran Merdeka and takes riders through familiar roads as per Appendix 2

“We are grateful for the support from DBKL and the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) who have been working closely with us to ensure smooth traffic movements and public safety on event day. This includes efficient planning to communicate the traffic movements to the public.

OCBC Bank (Malaysia) Berhad is excited about the new route, which promises to be more challenging and enjoyable.

“This year with a longer route and just two loops, we are looking forward to a fantastic experience for the cycling community and we hope the participants will have a memorable morning. There will be more than 300 of OCBC Bank staff joining in the fun as well.
