As CoQ10 is crucial in energy production, it can significantly enhance not only our daily energy levels, but also energy and endurance during exercise. One clinical study conducted by a group of Japanese scientist found that CoQ10 supplementation enhances exercise performance. Subjects given with 300 milligrams of CoQ10 per day for eight days experienced less fatigue during exercise on a stationary bike and recovered faster as compared to those on control group.

Decreased muscle damage

A recent study found that in athletes competing in a 50km distance run in the a 100% increase in markers for DNA damage as a result of oxidative stress, compared to with an increase of 38% in the runners taking the CoQ10 supplements. A reduction of creatinine level in the urine was also observed in the CoQ10 group, compared to placebo group. Creatinine is produced from creatine and high levels are a marker of muscle breakdown. Reduction of creatinine excretion therefore decrease muscle damage during physical performance.

 

Antioxidant for heart health

Apart from generating energy, Coenzyme Q10 also acts as antioxidant. It provides direct antioxidant protection by neutralizing free radicals, preventing them from damaging tissue in the body, and enhances the antioxidant potential of other antioxidant in the body, such as vitamin C and E.

 

CoQ10 with vitamin E and zinc

Zinc is a well-known nutrient in immune health. It acts as cofactor in antioxidant enzyme activity that protect the heart tissue from oxidative damage. Zinc is also involved in energy metabolism and protein synthesis which gives you more energy and improves endurance. For physically active individuals, adequate amount of zinc is required to cater for the increased energy expenditure and work performance.

Vitamin E has been known as a powerful antioxidant which plays an important role in red blood cells production and protect the red blood cells from oxidative damage.
